Halmstad Municipality – CoWorking Office

Dispelling the myth that municipal offices are dreary is especially evident when you step into Halmstad Municipality’s service administration office. When tasked with conceptualizing this project, we drew inspiration from Halmstad’s delightful motto, ’It’s always summer in Halmstad.’ Imagine a sun-soaked beach day with ice cream – that’s the vibe we brought into the office, complete with pastel-hued furniture and playful decor, including an actual ice cream machine.

Guided by the philosophy of a ’Playful Office,’ the entire design process unfolded. The challenge? Retaining the team in their cherished space, despite spatial constraints. The issue was that the space was too small for everyone who would be working there. Nevertheless, we embraced a groundbreaking shift from the traditional municipal office setup, opting for an activity-based model. Leaders led the way, abandoning their offices to become role models as everyone embraced agile working.

This project was undoubtedly a challenging endeavor, but we had an incredible time executing it. With a daring client and effective persuasion skills, coupled with a hands-on approach to leadership, this project exemplified innovation and creativity.
