Castellum – Malmö Office
-
Castellum’s new office in Malmö is a prime example of how a thoughtfully designed workspace can support both employee well-being and business goals. The project began with a thorough analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the existing offices through in-depth interviews and a comprehensive employee survey. This data-driven approach ensured that the office design was tailored to meet the real needs of both individuals and the organization, maximizing productivity and satisfaction.
To align the workspace with the company’s forward-looking vision, we employed advanced tools such as Softdraft.ai, an AI-based solution for creating floor plans. This tool integrated both physical and human factors to optimize space use and support various work processes. By carefully analyzing collaboration patterns and employees’ daily routines, we customized the office zones to encourage the right type of work environment, whether focused tasks or creative meetings.
Sustainability was a core focus of the project, influencing every decision. Over 70% of the furniture used in the new office is reused, with much of it coming from the existing office inventory. These pieces were refreshed and adapted to fit the new design. For new purchases, we prioritized locally produced and eco-labeled options to minimize environmental impact. We also integrated reclaimed building materials, such as brick and glass panels, to create an authentic and timeless atmosphere in the new meeting rooms.
To ensure the changes were not just aesthetic but also cultural, we conducted multiple workshops with employees. These workshops allowed everyone to participate in the process, addressing any concerns and ensuring the new work environment met both practical and cultural expectations. By involving employees in this way, we fostered a culture where the changes were not only accepted but embraced.
The final result is a workspace that offers modern, flexible work areas while reflecting Castellum’s strong focus on sustainability and innovation. The office is divided into different sound zones, giving employees the freedom to choose their work environment based on their needs for the day. Social spaces, such as kitchens and lounge areas, are designed to encourage spontaneous meetings and creative conversations, while quiet zones and focus rooms provide spaces for uninterrupted, concentrated work.
Castellum’s new office is an outstanding example of how a workplace can be transformed to meet future needs, with people at the center. By combining technological solutions, sustainable choices, and a deep understanding of the company’s culture, we have created a work environment that inspires, engages, and delivers long-term value.
